If you’re a Melbourne music fan and you’re in touch with what’s happening around the country, you’d be well aware of Sydney boutique festival Days Like This!, which debuted earlier this year with a solid and eclectic mix of hip hop, electronica, indie-rock, roots and plenty more. It’ll be back this year, but for its southern cousins some of the festival’s biggest acts will be playing sideshows.
First up is the massive soul and hip hop triple bill of Amp Fiddler, Mayer Hawthorne and Quantic playing a DJ set. Amp Fiddler of course is one of the hottest soul acts touring the world today and he’ll be bringing his full live band, while Mayer Hawthorne is a fresh name in retro soul who’s been lauded by the like of Mark Ronson and Gilles Peterson.
The other big show features UK hip hop stalwart Roots Manuva, touring off the back of his fourth studio album Slime and Reason last year. He’ll be getting support from Canadian electro-pop duo Thunderheist, who released their debut album earlier this year.
Amp Fiddler + Mayer Hawthorne + Quantic hit the Corner Hotel in Melbourne on Saturday 9th January, while Roots Manuva lands at The Palace Theatre on Thursday January 7th.
