Perth’s biggest and only dance music New Years Eve festival returns in 2009 with a lineup that’s sure to impress anyone who knows anything about underground music. Headlining this monstrosity, once again held at Steel Blue Oval in Bassendean, are none other than brothers in rhyme, smoke and grime, Method Man and Redman.
Method Man is a founding member of the Wu-Tang Clan who has enjoyed solo success through numerous albums, most notably perhaps through his collaboration with Redman on the infamous Blackout LP. The two even starred in cult stoner flick How High and are sure to bring some of their notorious naughtiness back down under for the first time in 4 years. Joining the hip-hop heavy hitters are fellow Americans Ugly Duckling and Dilated Peoples, UK mainstay Roots Manuva and Aussie ARIA winners Bliss n Eso, filling out what is probably the biggest hip hop lineup Perth has ever seen.
Drum n’ Bass is also very well represented with top shelf acts littering the bill. LTJ Bukem returns with MC Conrad along with DJ Marky, Ed Rush & Optical and Subfocus and up and comers Spectrasoul and Xample. Dubstep fans are also looked after with Skream & Benga pushing out all the subsonic bass your eardrums can handle along with Joker, Distance, Hatcha and Kito. Making their long awaited return to Perth are Cassius who cancelled on their headline spot at We Love Ministry of Sound last year. The French house maestros are kept company by Bag Raiders, Amp Fiddler, Thunderheist and heaps more.
