He’s been umm-ing and ahh-ing for nearly a year now, and we’ve heard “maybe” and “possibly” time and time again. But the reigning world #1 DJ (and Sony inthemix50 international favourite) Armin van Buuren has finally confirmed he’ll be bringing his legendary ‘Armin Only’ parties back to Australia in 2010! That means vocalists. Live performances. Nine-hour extended sets. Oooh yeah.
“I’m working hard on the new album,” Armin told ITM, speaking to ITM roving reporter Katrina Loughrey at the Amsterdam Dance Event last month. The completion of his follow up to 2007’s Imagine album was always the deciding factor as to whether he’d be ready to take ‘Armin Only’ back on the road again in 2010. “It’s set for June next year, which will be followed by an ‘Armin Only’ tour in the winter, so it’s looking like it’ll all come together.”
Quizzed on whether Australia would be included in the next round of ‘Armin Only’ shows, AVB says that will “definitely” be the case. “I’m very careful with the brand though, because I know a lot of people wanted me to do it every year. That would have been easy money for me, but that’s not a creative challenge then. I take the event very seriously, it’s probably the biggest thing I’ll ever do, especially the upcoming events. We’re already planning for two years of ‘Armin Only’, gathering ideas and Australia is definitely on the map; especially Melbourne and Sydney.”
ITM also spoke to uber-producers Rank1 last week, ahead of their whirlwind Australian tour this weekend, and they confirmed they’re currently holed up in the studio with Armin helping him put the album together.
