There’s little doubt that Future Classic are one of Australia’s finest sources of excellent underground dance music, both with the impressive selection of acts on their roster as well as all the techno, disco and house DJ/producers they’ve toured from right around the world. So it’s time to celebrate – Future Classic is turning five-years old this December, and they’ll be bringing along both Henrik Schwarz and Chateau Flight to help them do it in style at their favourite stomping ground of the Civic Hotel.
They both make fort fine names to help Future Classic blow out the five birthday candles. Henrik Schwarz is a longstanding player in the German deep house and techno scene, and renowned producer for the Innervisions label, and he’ll be bringing his laptop along for a 100 per cent live performance. Chateau Flight on the other hand are Parisian DJ/producers Gilb’r and Nicholas Chaix, regulars at the Versatile Records label since 1996 and responsible for one of the best loved additions to Get Physical’s esteemed Body Language series.
So what has the label got to celebrate? How about their commitment to releasing excellent local music from the likes of Jamie Lloyd, Deepchild, Peret Mako and heaps more. Or otherwise arguably breaking the nu-disco sound in Australia through touring acts like Aeroplane, Holy Ghost!, Todd Terje, and staying on the cusp of the freshest European house and techno with acts like Ame, Isolée, Solomun, Trickski and too many others to mention. If you’re keen to get an idea of what they’ve achieved, everyone who purchases tickets on ITM will receive a free 5 Years Future Classic compilation that covers the high points of the label’s past, present and future.
