The man who’s been hailed as the DJ who plays “the best underground records in the world” will be in Australia over Christmas and New Years, with a certain extra special Boxing Day gig announced on a boat that’ll be reminiscent of Steve Bug’s recent adventures on Sydney Harbour. However, promoters Sounds have just lifted the lid on the other national dates Damian Lazarus will be playing while he’s in the country, which includes shows in Melbourne and Stradbroke Island, as well as a slot at the Rhythm & Vines Festival in New Zealand.

The hype around Damian Lazrus at the moment is huge, hailed as one of the few names who is offering a fresh approach to underground dance music at the moment. He describes his sound himself as, “twisted, raw, deep underground techno, house and electro. Crazy future music that works just as well at peak times in large clubs as it does in the early hours in small spaces.”

His artist album Smoke The Monster Out is out now, and he also holds down the A&R responsibilities for the Crosstown Rebels label. What a man.

Damian Lazarus tour dates:

Friday 25 December – New Guernica, Melbourne
Saturday 26 December – Agwa Yacht Club, Sydney
Thursday 31 December – Rhythm & Vines, Gisborne (NZ)
Saturday 2 January – You & Me Island, South Stradbroke Island

He's hot and cold for me - can be one of the most interesting DJs around though. Certainly more "early hours in small spaces" than harbour cruise to me.
