Arriving to tear Sydney’s Metro Theatre for the next Killer event in January will be none other than the wicked pairing of the illest Philadelphians Diplo and Amanda Blank. They’ll both be here for shows over New Years, Diplo performing as part of Major Lazer and Blank touring Australia as a solo artist for the furst time, so another chance to catch them in an intimate setting will be a welcome one.

Super producer Diplo, who’s laid down beats for artists like M.I.A., Santigold and Bonde Do Role to name but a few, has famously collaborated with Switch this year for the Major Lazer project, responsible for the major “digital reggae” anthem Pon De Floor. No stranger to Australian shores, Diplo was also one of the several founders of Heaps Decent, a non-profit organization proudly supported by Fuzzy, that is a transnational network of musicians, producers and promoters dedicated to developing the talents of indigenous and underprivileged youths).

Joining Diplo is fierce and sassy rapper Amanda Blank, who broke into the scene via MCing for Spank Rock on Bump back in 2007. This year has seen the debut of her solo album I Love You, filled with everything from electronic hip hop to nu-rave to R&B synth pop and rock-rap hybrids as well as the raunchy first single Might Like You Better.

Diplo & Amanda Blank play Killer at the Metro on Friday January 8th.
