Their radio show might titled WePLAYLouder, but German house duo Dabruck and Klein were called upon to enforce the exact opposite on a flight from Sydney to Perth during their recent Australian tour. After playing a rocking set to a packed house at Limelite in Perth in November, the duo were minding their own business when they were asked by flight staff if they could help deal with a violent and drunk passenger. Dabruck and Klein to the rescue!
“We were both kind of working away on our laptops with headphones on when a particularly feminine male flight attendant explained that a passenger was drunk and had pushed one of the hostesses, and they couldn’t really deal with the situation,” Stefan Dabruck from the pair told ITM.
“Frank [Klein] told him to ask the 6’4 judo blackbelt sitting behind him, which was me,” he said dryly. “So the guy asked me and I said it wasn’t a problem and we went forward to see the guy. I told him that he needed to settle down or he was going in the handcuffs, he told me something about my mother so I grabbed him by his head and arm, Frank grabbed the other arm and two of the attendants grabbed a foot each. We got him in the handcuffs and they asked me to sit next to him for the rest of the flight which was OK, then when we got off the plane everybody on board clapped us when we left which was really nice!
“As we were walking off about 10 police ran past us and I’m guessing the guy didn’t have too much fun after that. Qantas have upgraded our flights on the way which is great as I need all the legroom I can get!”
Crimefighters by day and DJs by night! The boys get a healthy pat on the back from ITM, well done lads.
