The night of nights for Perth’s EDM community took place over many pints and shenanigans at the Rosemount last Sunday, with the 2009 Perth Dance Music Awards being the source of more than one surprise unfolding over the evening. None more so than inthemix taking out its first ever PDMA!

After playing bridesmaid for eight years to local web institution Teknoscape, ITM finally took out top honours in the Best Website category. It has been a massive year at inthemix, which, and without the support of its readers it wouldn’t , so a massive thanks to everyone that voted and the organisers of the PDMAs who do an amazing job every single year.

Notable DJ winners include Habitat upstart Kyran Smith winning Best House DJ, Darren J taking out a double in the Best Progressive and Best Techno categories, Nathan Francis was named Best New Talent and Micah made it an incredible 7 in a row for Best Breaks, no surprise for the man who was crowned WA’s best DJ in this year’s Sony inthemix50.

Other big winners were The Typhoons with Best Live Act and Best Hip Hop Act buddies Shazam and Shockone taking all four producer awards between them, and Boomtick will certainly be running out of wall space with another 5 PDMAs returning to Ambar including Best Event for Breakfest and Outstanding Contribution. Top ITM shooter Adam Mazur had the best photos in the Best Scene Photograph with his shot of Sander Van Door at Trance Energy topping the tables.
