DFA Records hero James Murphy and Pat Mahoney of LCD Soundsystem are coming to Melbourne on January 8 to be a part of popular Late Night Date’s latest event, their Special Disco Version. Future Entertainment’s series of parties Late Night Date has played host to some of dance music’s finest, including Steve Aoki, Shadowdancer and Djedjotronic, and once again they seem to have gathered as much talent under one roof as possible.
Murphy’s punk flavour and Mahoney’s indie flare will be joined by The Juan MacLean’s disco sound, with support drawn from a long list of local talent, including Flight Facilities (U-Go-B & Jimmy 2 Sox) and Andee Frost (disco dispenser). Vinyl records will be spun on a special rotary mixer all night long – no laptops – making this an altogether, pretty impressive event; that is, if anyone even remembers what those things called turntables are.
Late Night Date pres: Special Disco Version comes to the Royal Melbourne Hotel on Friday 8th January, tickets on sale now at ITM.
