For fifty weeks of the year, we gear ourselves up for the madness of the Christmas and New Year party period. Two delirious weeks of romantic misunderstandings below the mistletoe, with party after party to let our hair down. In the Sunshine State the beats will ring out from Boxing Day until New Year’s Day. Up the stairs, Sampology brings his super visual disco party to The Moonbar, with his usual array of disco madness and funk fortune. MORE INFO

Just down the road is GPO Hotel, and they’ll host the ultimate local gig of the silly season: Queensland’s #3 DJ Baby Gee will bring out the usual madness with tech drenched beats, with supports from Jimmy Vegas, Brett J and Dodzy. MORE INFO

Meanwhile, Have a Spoonful will be forking out the beats as Dirty Sundays takes it to the water in two boats to a secluded island with Jimmy2Sox, U-GO-B, Keli Hart, Malfunke, Pow! Pow!, Brett Sellwood and Spooks. MORE INFO

Not too far away, elsewhere in Surfers Paradise holds their All Star Christmas Special, with motion theory residents Ben Abrahams, DJ Khris, Matt Crawford and Daniel Webber bringing the freshest underground beats to the Billie-Jean inspired dancefloor. Just down the road in Broadbeach will be the definitive house party of all house parties, as Platinum Nightclub presents Swedish House Mafia marvel Sebastian Ingrosso. With TV Rock’s Grant Smillie along for the ride and Platinum residents Gerry Morales and Craig Roberts keeping the night going, this is one party the early Queensland sun will no doubt rise to! Sunday December 27 sees the day start with the eagerly anticipated boutique festival Blah Blah Blah, presented by breaks crew ADICTS at The Riverlife Adventure Centre. Set amongst the picturesque environment of Kangaroo Point and the Brisbane River, this festival will see a plethora of international names like Yo Majesty, Rennie Pilgrem, Elite Force, Lady Waks, Miles Dyson, Skool of Thought, Kazu Kimura and Rob Reng sharing the stage with national wonders The Aston Shuffle, Infusion’s Jamie Stevens, DJ Bonez and Hermitude. There’s also home grown artist The Golden Sound, Vinyl Slingers and Laneous and the Family Yah amongst a slew of other loved acts. Blah Blah Blah will definitely be a high point to the party period. New Year’s Eve sees in the climax of the silly season, as clubs and venues recover from their Christmas cheer to fling open the doors to 2010. Family sees Mickey Slim and firm favourites Kid Kenobi & MC Shureshock belting it out from the Main Room, with residents Habebe, Tim Plunkett, Jeremy Iliev, Jason Morely and Chris Wilson banging it out like it’s 2010. Just around the block at Zuri Lounge Bar & Dining, Hed Kandi will be pulling out the streamers and champagne for the biggest night on their party calendar. With Slynk & Butterz, ShifT-t & Mik-D and Dr Rhythm & Dilate keeping the beats dropping for 2010 behind the decks and “2 for 1” of Barsoma’s infamous tapas all night long, this will definitely be a night of yummy portions! New Year’s Eve at The Met will be unlike any other, as The Stafford Brothers and Timmy Trumpet let loose with their own special brand of mayhem. An excess of beats will take over the different levels of The Met, with Mr Sparkle, Andee, Murray Brown, Roman Flachs, Pete Smith, Nick Galea, Bossy & Reekay Garcia and Sharif D bringing in 2010 in epic style.
