We already knew that melodic techno angel Gui Boratto would be in Australia in February to play at the Playground Weekender festival in Sydney, but it was always a sure thing he’d make at least a few other appearances around the country around the time of the tour. Well, now there’s even less of a need to fret as he’s been confirmed for performances in several of our country’s finest underground clubs, with more announcements apparently to follow.
More than two years down the track from the release of his seminal Chromophobia album, and Boratto’s place in the dance music zeitgeist as we move into the next decade is more than assured. Notable for being one of the first high-profile producers to break through with a take on techno that was distinctly more melodic (and at times, even carrying a pop sensibility), he was soon joined by fellow melodic techno gurus like Shlomi Aber and Guy J, as well as a follow up artist album Take My Breathe Away.
So what has Borratto got in store for 2010? We won’t have to wait too long to find out.
Gui Boratto tour dates:
Fri 19 Feb – Roxanne Parlour, Melbourne
Sat 20 Feb – Playground Weekender, NSW
Sun 21 Feb – Geisha, Perth
Sat 27 Feb – Bar Soma, Brisbane
