An early update made to the ABC Shop website has given away details of who has been voted #1 on the Triple J Hottest 100 countdown. The snafu was picked up by the folks over at Crikey.com.au and seems to have occurred when a premature listing was made on the ABC site for the forthcoming February issue of jmag. Not surprisingly, since it was published the Twitter world has gone into overdrive with the story being bandied about all over the place.

The countdown will take place on Australia Day, January 26th, and far be it from us to ruin the surprise if you have a BBQ or party planned with your friends. That’s why we’re not publishing the info here – but if you simply can’t wait until Tuesday you can read the Crikey story here. Just don’t tell any of your mates if they prefer the element of surprise. Play nice kids, nobody likes a spoil-sport!

UPDATE – We’ve since been informed that one of the first places to pick up on the leak may have in fact been the inthemix forums, with this thread appearing just after 11am this morning.
