THE LINEUP HAS BEEN RELEASED – READ THE FULL STORY HERE!
It’s one of the most revered dance music brands in the world, and after more than a decade of throwing immense festivals in the UK and across the globe, Creamfields is coming to Australia. Judging from the reaction to ITM’s exclusive announcement of Creamfields’ arrival in 2010, the festival couldn’t be a more perfect fit for the post-summer season, and anticipation is running spectacularly high already.
Well, it’s time to crank the excitement levels up a few more notches, as inthemix can confirm the first selection of artists confirmed to be kicking off the Creamfields debut in Australia this May. If this is the calibre of acts we can expect, then we’re in for big things.
First up, it’s official, after a triumphant run of Stereosonic dates, The Bloody Beetroots will be back in Australia to decimate audiences with their unique brand of raw electro. But this time there’s a very interesting twist, as Creamfields will see the debut of The Bloody Beetroots’ brand new live show, dubbed the Death Crew 77, and you can bet they’ll be louder than ever. Joining the Beetroots we know two more names, both rising players in the dance world sure to please club diehards, they are Riva Starr and Creamfield favourites Bingo Players, all the way from the Netherlands. Not to be outdone, Steve Angello of the Swedish House Mafia posted on Twitter less than a day ago that he’d be back in the country very soon. “HAPPY to announce that I’ll be in AUSTRALIA in May for a tour around the country,” he wrote. Although there’s no firm confirmation it’s for Creamfields, one can only hope!
Speaking to John Curtin of Onelove, who are bringing Creamfields to Australia alongside Stereosonic partners Hardware, he confirmed the three above acts, saying that “the power of Twitter, Facebook and ITM forum detectives” had done well in uncovering the initial artists on the bill, before teasing out more delicious details about the festival.
“[Expect the] full lineup on Wednesday, it’s an amazing mix of revered acts, couple of old school techno, big hipster acts and heaps more. We are really excited about bringing Creamfields to Australia and working closely with Cream UK on the event,” John said. And if that’s not enough to get you over the moon, he promised something special for the events themselves, pointing out that in particular “the setup in Melbourne is going to be out of control with massive circus tents.”
As promised by John, we’ll see the first official lineup announcement next week, so be sure to come back to inthemix to get the info first! In the interim, to get you in the mood, check out these photos from Creamfields 2009.
