When the news was announced that Fridays @ Family was going to be Remixed For A Summer of Family Love, the cries of dismay and shock – especially from ITMers – reverberated through all corridors of the Brisbane dance community. As Fridays @ Family had long been an institution – even being voted #1 a number of times in the annual Sony inthemix50 – the change to the formula were not met too kindly by those into hard dance and trance.
The local trance community, in particular, has been quite vocal in their aversion to the revolution, so much so that Family has finally “answered the call” to bring Fridays @ Family as we all knew – and loved – back to the place it belongs! A particularly exciting announcement is that Fridays @ Family will also introduce a fresh addition to its agenda; The Young Gunz Program. This series is designed to highlight the ever-growing numbers of emerging DJs and artists in Brisbane.
Luminaries like Bexta, Nick Skitz, Peewee Ferris, Dr Willis as well as Holland’s Ummet Ozcan and Scotland’s David Forbes are already on the cards during February and March, with resident DJs Dynasty, Syke, Ian McKie, Hektic and Friends & Enemiez back to strut their stuff behind the decks in the Family main room. Fridays @ Family will signal their triumphant return this very week amidst a blaze of phat pants and glowsticks with the entrance of The Queen of Hard Dance; Lisa Lashes!
Set times:
09-11pm Syke
11-01am Dynasty
01-03am Lisa Lashes
03-05am Hektic
