It’s been three long years since we were first awed by Midnight Juggernauts’ debut Dystopia, and album number two is almost upon us. Punters at the fabled Golden Plains festival in regional Victoria over the weekend were given even more reason to be excited, with the Melbourne outfit delivering an exhilarating show.
In a time-slot that fittingly passed the stroke of midnight, the guys introduced the festival to some new songs, including lead single This New Technology. As ITM’s reviewer wrote, the rain that had plagued Victoria all weekend “added to an amazing and spontaneous live show”, with frontman Vincent Vendetta riding across the crowd in an inflatable dinghy. Despite a line-up built around ‘90s indie heroes Pavement and Dinosaur Jr, a lot of the post-festival buzz has focused on the Juggernauts.
The Melbourne lads weren’t the only ones repping electronic music at the Meredith Supernatural Amphitheatre, with the likes of Optimo and The Gaslamp Killer keeping the party alive till dawn.
