Melbourne fans of Future Music Festival star John Digweed have been voicing their frustrations this week following an ill-fated official after-party at Neverland on Sunday night. Advertised as a triple-bill of Digweed, Dubfire and Sven Väth, for many punters the drawcard was Digweed. Unfortunately, despite best intentions, the man did not get a chance to play at all, with a very party-hardy Väth dominating proceedings.

inthemix has been awaiting an official statement this week on what went down, and we have now received one from Future Entertainment head Mark James. Have a read below.

“I’m sorry for the late reply but we are still on tour with Prodigy shows, I do apologise to you all for the events that took place at the after party. From what I have been advised, Sven arrived at the venue and took it upon himself to start playing, when John arrived Sven gave him the option to start at 3am, John had a early flight to Adelaide and could not do this.

I’m sure you could all see that Sven was in a non-compromising state and unfortunately there was no one at the venue that could reason with him. I’m sorry I wasn’t there (which I had every intention to be) but the roof of my house had been partly torn off by the storm that day, so I spent the whole night after the festival trying to get that in order as I had a 8am flight to Adelaide Monday morning.

When John returns he will be doing a special long set for you all and I promise you will all be on the free list, once again, sorry!”
