Dutch maestro Ferry Corsten is always given a hero’s welcome in Australia, and his visit in May for the Creamfields tour is set to be another triumph.
The man played a couple of storming festival sets at Summadayze and Summafieldayze in the early days of 2009, before returning later in the year at the helm of Cream’s ‘The Experience’ tour. Drawing ecstatic reviews at every stop, it’s fair to say the fans will be out in force at Creamfields when he leads the trance charge alongside Marco V and Filo & Peri.
With such a dedicated following in Australia, it’s little surprise Corsten is always thinking about what’s next. Speaking with inthemix ahead of his return, the man hinted that he’s keen to bring the ultimate Ferry Corsten event – Full On Ferry – down under. A dream for any trance devotee, Full On Ferry sees the headliner command the stage all night long, with a dazzling array of guest appearances. Check out our photo showcase below from the 2008 and 2009 events for an idea of what we might be in for.
“Full On Ferry is an annual event I’ve been doing in Rotterdam in my hometown,” Ferry told ITM’s Tom Griffin. “The cool thing about Full on Ferry is that I play eight or nine hours and I invite guest DJs to play with me on stage and we do a back-to-back. So I play the whole night and every now and then someone else comes on stage with me, like Cosmic Gate or BT.
“The line-up we build around me each year is pretty diverse,” he continued. “It goes from house-y stuff to full-on trance and a little techno. It gives the whole night a dynamic flow which I really like.”
Sounds like something that would go down a storm in Australia? Ferry agrees. “We’ve been really thinking about it,” he enthused. “It has been stirring up quite some dust and have a lot of people interested, so never say never. It would be very cool!”
