Following the announcement that Detroit don Derrick May would be visiting Melbourne in April, Sydney’s techno-inclined were left feeling hard done by. Now local party crew Picnic has come to the rescue, taking a deviation from disco for one very special night.

Derrick May is set to test out the new sound-system at 202 Broadway on Sunday 18 April with a five-hour set. This edition of Picnic runs from 4pm till midnight, with Sydney’s consummate selector Simon Caldwell supporting. For anyone who remembers fondly/hazily May’s last basement excursions at Club 77 and Chinese Laundry, this will be a Sunday session not to miss.
