After two years of service behind the kit in the second coming of Wolfmother, Dave Atkins has decided to leave the band to “spend much-needed time at home with his family”. Atkins is of course well known as a founding member of Aussie funk/hip hop mainstays Resin Dogs, and though Wolfmother has a history of axing members, it seems that this split has come on friendly terms.
Meanwhile, Wolfmother’s other former members Chris Ross and Myles Heskett are set to show off their new project alongside Kid Koala, The Slew, at a string of shows in May. As Kid Koala told inthemix recently, it’s “Public Enemy meets Black Sabbath”, with Heskett and Ross adding live drums, bass and keys to a six-turntable set-up. We’re putting our money on that one.
