It seems like everyone wants a piece of Seth Troxler in 2010, so it’s something of a coup that we get two tours in the space of a few months. After well and truly fulfilling the hype on his April visit, the techno star returns next month for the We Love Sounds and Winter Sound System festivals. He’s set to appear in the Planet Turbo arena alongside Zombie Nation, Proxy, Thomas Von Party and head honcho Tiga.

When inthemix got on the phone to Seth Troxler this morning, he was driving around his hometown Detroit in anticipation of the Movement festival this weekend. As fans will know, the man is no shrinking violet – and his account of hooking up with Tiga for the Australian tour is more entertaining than most.

“Tiga is just a really cool guy,” he enthused. “He likes to make jokes, and he found out I like to make jokes, and was like, ‘Let’s make some jokes together’. We met at a festival and we were talking about Mentos and boat shoes, and we were like, ‘Man, you’re alright in my book!’ Then we became friends. It’s like meeting someone at a bar and you’re like, ‘Man, that guy is fucking cool, I want to be his friend’. In like a non-homosexual way.”

Troxler also has fond memories of the April visit, although he wishes he could have stuck around after the boat party he played in Sydney. “I wanted to get – and I’m overusing this ‘cause I’m on the phone – get loose. What a term! So cool! So incredibly cool! I picked it up in Australia.

“This time, I plan on having a lot of laughs. Laughing as much as physically possible. Actually, number one: playing some really cool music. Then laughing. Constantly. Hanging out with people, trying to go to every after-hours. How deep can I get into the festival? That is my plan.”

Seth Troxler plays the Planet Turbo arena at We Love Sounds and Winter Sound System. Stay tuned for the full interview – in which we talk frat movies, acid, ordering pizza online and bringing the sex to Ibiza – on inthemix very soon.
