In December last year, Subsonic established itself as a festival unlike the rest. Set in the natural splendour of Riverwood Downs in Barrington Tops, three hours out of Sydney, it was a full weekend of camping and top-shelf electronic music in the open air. The event is back in 2010, and the first round of headliners is a clear sign it’ll be one of summer’s best.

Heading up the announcement is none other than Kompakt leader Michael Mayer, who’ll be joined by prodigious labelmate Dominik Eulberg (making up for his unfortunate cancellation earlier this year). Extrawelt is also set to play live under the stars, alongside Highgrade Records reps Heinrichs & Hirtenfellner, local beatmakers Hermitude and several more.

As for the Subsonic experience, the organisers put it like this: “At Subsonic you won’t be told what to do, just encouraged to have an incredible time. Encouraged to BYO and self cater as much as you like. Encouraged to respect your fellow guests and the local environment. Encouraged to forget about tomorrow and get knocked out by the now.”

Subsonic takes over the Mountain Valley Resort in Barrington Tops on 3, 4, 5 December 2010. The first round of names is below, with plenty more still to come.
