No matter how good a DJ is there’ll always be a night where things just don’t quite right. That’s something that all DJs face and clubbers alike bear witness to all too frequently. A DJ can have all the technical skills and the biggest bag of party bombs in their arsenal but in the blink of an eye it can all go pear-shaped and they’ll be hanging your head in shame. Yep, we’re talking about DJing disasters.
This isn’t the first time that we’ve covered some notoriously nightmarish shows, check back here for the 2009 edition, but our interest in DJ disasters was piqued after hearing the following shocking tale about an unfortunate unnamed DJ’s horror DJ set.
“…During an afterparty at a friend’s of his he fell asleep and the other guys took one of his CDs, imported one of his staple songs to a computer and edited Scatman John into the middle of it, just for about a minute or so, and then burned it to a new CD and marked it the same way. [At] a gig some time later when he played this song Scatman John suddenly came out of the speakers at the club. He totally panicked and couldn’t for his life understand where this came from. He killed the sound and put it back and Scatman John was still there and suddenly it was just gone and the original track played again.”
That’s crazy, right? Thinking about how red-faced the poor DJ would’ve been we went knocking on some doors for more nasty stories from DJs sharing some of their messed up show experiences. Check out who opens up with some painful memories, along with some of our own personal favourite DJ disasters, in the gallery below.
And it wouldn’t be a gallery of shame and pain without a nod to everybody’s favourite grinning Frenchman, David Guetta. Seriously, there’s a second CDJ there for a reason dude.
Got an even more spectacular DJ disaster that you’ve seen, heard or even perpetrated yourself? Shout out in the comments!
