The rumours have been running rampant all week (with a little help from some cheeky tweets by their cartoon bassist Murdoc) but dates and venues can now be officially confirmed for the first ever Australian live tour by the Gorillaz. This December Damon Albarn will bring the full Gorillaz live experience down under, and if the band’s performances at Glastonbury and Coachella earlier this year are anything to go by, we are sure in for a treat.
The band’s most recent shows have seen the full Gorillaz entourage onboard including De La Soul, Mick Jones, Paul Simonon, Mos Def, Gruff Rhys, Shaun Ryder and Bobby Womack. And whilst we can’t yet confirm which guests will be joining them down under, we can reveal that there are some exciting additions to be announced very soon. The arena sized shows will not only see the band performing tracks from new album Plastic Beach, but will feature a huge production including multi-media video, animation, artwork and film.
