Birmingham icon Surgeon hasn’t ventured to these parts in 10 years, but this October he’ll be back to make up for lost time. In the decade between visits, the man has cemented his place in techno lore with a wide-ranging catalogue of releases and remixes.
Surgeon’s recent entry into Fabric’s mix-CD series is an unabashed 30-track dive into late-night techno, interspersing his own productions with precise cuts from Robert Hood, Instra:mental, Starkey and many more. As the DJ himself puts it simply: “This is the music that I am enjoying and I feel it represents me; and on the other side, there were some newer or lesser known artists that I really wanted to represent.”
