It may only be August but festival season is well and truly under way, and if the 2011 Southbound Festival line-up is anything to go by, we are in for one huge summer of music.

As ever, the festival is packed out with big names from across the alternative and indie rock spectrum including headliners Interpol, The National and even Joan Jett And The Blackhearts, but the festivals are also boasting a surprisingly diverse cast of artists, including plenty of dance acts like The Rapture, A-Trak, Casiokids, Peaches, Ladyhawke, Justice collaborators Jamaica and Klaxons who ITMers tipped to return earlier this week.

If that isn’t enough to get you excited, hip hop legends Public Enemy are returning to Australia as promised to bring in the New Year, with Chuck D and Flavor Flav set to perform their seminal album Fear Of A Black Planet in its entirety.

The local line is also chock full of goodness, with Sampology, Angus and Julia Stone and Tame Impala all making appearances across the New Year.
