In case you missed the big reveal that came yesterday with part two of our ITM contributors poll, where the ITM contributor massive counted down their favourite 50 albums of the last ten years, there were some very interesting results with longtime inthemix favourites Daft Punk being upset for the #1 spot by none other than Australia’s The Avalanches and their album, Since I Left You, which is evidently holding up pretty well to ITMers’ ears ten years after the original release.

That’s a pretty monumental result to be sure, and to gauge how The Avalanches felt about being voted to the top spot for Since I Left You, ITM reached out the awol legends, with frontman Robbie Chater sounding pretty ecstatic at the accolade.

“Thanks so much guys,” Chater wrote to inthemix. “To be remembered 10 years later is very humbling, especially considering some of the other amazing albums on your list. I’m actually a little bit embarrassed to tell you the truth. We just tried to make something straight from the heart, so we’re very happy people are still feeling it. Coming from such seminal dance music website, this is a real honour.”

Clearly Since I Left You is an important record for both the Australian scene and dance music in general and we’d say that it’s a deserved #1 on the list. Now we wait for the group’s next move…
