While it seemed for a while like a distant pipe-dream, this November will see Ricardo Villalobos make his long overdue return to Australia. The man is of course part of Stereosonic’s heavyweight techno line-up, but he’s also set to headline some late-night sessions on the side.
These exclusive club shows with the Chilean techno don presented by inthemix and Sneakerpeeps are sure to be the stuff of legend. It’ll be a rare chance to see one of the world’s most enigmatic, creative and revered DJs, up close and personal, and spread out over four hours.
Villalobos is met by a feverish reception everywhere he roams in Europe, and the Northern summer saw him breaking up stints in Ibiza and Berlin with slots at the likes of Exit Festival, Love Family Park and Melt. A vinyl devotee, he excels in the longer sets – something he proved again at the recent Fabric On & On in London, where he commanded the floor till the afternoon. Expect minds to be warped when he settles in for these shows.
