Entries closed in our Itch-E & Scratch-E remix comp a few weeks back, with the production talent of the inthemix community vying for a bevy of sweet prizes, including a pair of JBL Studio Monitors and Shure headphones courtesy of DJ Warehouse. After much deliberation by the Itch-E & Scratch-E duo of Paul Mac and Andy Rantzen, we can finally reveal who has come up trumps!

Congratulations are in order for Nicholas Retzepoglou, aka Retza, whose take on Itch-E & Scratch-E’s Scribe featuring single r.E.f.r.E.s.h won him top honours. “Funky as, a fresh take on the track, driving and fun,” said Paul when informing us of their chosen winner. “[It has] a nice combination of big, fat, mean, deep and funky grooves” Andy added. “I can’t see this failing to move a club full of people who just want to dance.”

For his stellar studio work Nicholas scores himself more than $2,000 in prizes:

> A pair of JBL LSR2328P Studio Monitors
> Shure SRH840 Professional Monitoring Headphones
> Mastering of three tracks in the DJ Warehouse Mastering Suite
> 12 month subscription to the Ministry of Sound digital promo pool – get all the newest releases from their family of labels, including Ministry Of Sound, Hussle, Downright, Asterix Music and etcetc
> A signed copy of Hooray For Everything!!!

In addition, Paul and Andy also wanted to make special mention of some of the other impressive submissions. Kudos to Craig Smith, aka DJ Wrenasmir, who they named as runner-up (“Another super inventive one. A great sense of spasticity, if that can be said! Hilarious.”) Also given a nod as ones they ‘really liked’ were by bside, Pretension, Bues, DJ Frazzy and Hung Like A Norse.

You can hear the winning remix as well as all of the others mentioned above over on the inthemix Soundcloud page right now; soundcloud.com/inthemix_com_au. Remember to start following us on there if you’re a Soundcloud user as well. “There were a whole bunch that we would play out… So many entries,” the boys added in summary. “Unbelievable. We were blown away by the number, and the quality, of these remixes. All of them were useful in the right situation. Good to see there’s so much talent out there.”

Big thanks to Ministry of Sound and DJ Warehouse for coming to the party with prizes for this comp, and of course full credit to Itch-E & Scratch-E for offering their track and taking the time to listen to all the entries. Keep your eyes glued to ITM for another very exciting remix competition, as we’re about to take the wraps off it any day now – take our word for it, this one’s a doozy!
