Reach for the lasers and sing Hallelujah! You may remember us mentioning earlier this week that Adelaide’s most successful clubbing institution Heaven was rumoured to be re-opening. Well, the rumours are true, with the superclub brand set to re-open on Wednesday September 22nd with one of the infamous Timewarp parties.
The clubbing brand that saw hundreds of thousands of revellers through its doors at the North Terrace location (where HQ is currently housed), will have brand spankin’ new digs at the old church that has hosted many a rave (and church service) – St Paul’s Cathedral on Pulteney Street.
Sticking by the ol’ ‘if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it’ adage, there’s no rebrand in sight – sticking with the same look and feel, same club nights including Timewarp, Chemistry and Clubland, and same DJs and hosts such as Barbarella, Souli, John Morley, RMAC and Krispy, the team at Heaven are sticking by their tried and true recipe that made the club such a success throughout the ‘90s and early noughties.
With three rooms, a VIP lounge and some serious lasers, Heaven have got some big names on board to see the club in to summer. Attending the opening night party will be Underbelly dreamboat Firass Dirani, and not to forget the fellas, none other than buoyant superbabe Pamela Anderson is set to hit the club before the year is out. Also locked in for the near future is FloRida and 4 Strings, who will be providing the soundtrack to Adelaide clubbers’ NYE celebrations.
With another superclub to rival current heavyhitter HQ, this is big news for A-Town. While Heaven devotees from way back will no doubt be flocking in to relive the adventure, it’ll be interesting to see whether the reopened club will be able to pull in the new breed of clubbers, many of whom would have still been wee little tackers before Heaven in the old location was controversially forced to shut its doors.
We’re looking forward to checking out whether clubbers’ loyalties lie with venue or the brand, in the face-off that is bound to be HQ versus Heaven. What do you think? Post your comments below.
