In a surprise turn, festival kings Groove Armada have announced they are set to retire their current live set-up. In a statement on the GA website, Tom Findlay and Andy Cato revealed the band’s forthcoming Australian tour with Parklife and a run of UK headline shows in October will be the band’s swansong. The duo is set to revisit its DJ set-up for 2011, while heading back into the studio to work on new projects.

“The boys have confirmed that the forthcoming Australian and UK tours will be the last,” says Groove Armada’s manager Dan O’Neill. “GA LIVE will come to an end at Brixton on 16th October. There are big DJ and production plans for 2011, but if you want to see the band live, do it now.”

After headlining the Boiler Room at Big Day Out last summer with new vocalist Saint Saviour, Groove Armada overhauled its Black Light set-up for the European festival season. It went down a storm at Glastonbury, and that’s the show we’ll see at Parklife. Nothing like going out on a high.

Speaking to inthemix in August, Cato hinted at the new-look Groove Armada in 2011. The duo’s revamped DJ show “will involve 909s and 303s and various synths and stuff”, inspired by a planned collection of house EPs.
