On 12 December, the Perth Dance Music Awards will once again give it up to the best in the west. This is the 12th annual edition of the awards, and inthemix is proud to be a presenting partner for another year. The award categories cover all bases of dance music in WA, from ‘Best Event’ to ‘Best Nightclub’ and ‘Best DJ’ by genre.
Two of the most hotly-contested awards are ‘Best Scene Photograph’ and ‘Best Flyer’. Entries for both categories open Friday 1 October and close Thursday 21 October, so if you’re a keen snapper or designer, this could be your moment. ‘Best Scene Photograph’ is open to all photographers, professional and amateurs alike – the only caveat is that the photo must’ve been taken at a local dance event over the past 12 months.
There were plenty of strong contenders in the photography field last year, with the man known on inthemix as w8_2008, Adam Mazur, taking out top honours with his snap of Sander Van Doorn at Trance Energy. You can view a slide-show of the Top 25 photos at the PDMAs website.
All photographs and flyers can be submitted to photos@perthdancemusicawards.org, and for budding entrants, the fine print is below.
1. Photos/Flyers MUST be submitted by the closing date of 21st Oct 2010. Entries after this date will not be considered.
2. All photographs must be free of watermarks (photographs will be watermarked with a special PDMA watermark)
3. A maximum of five photographs/flyers are to be submitted by each entrant
4. Each photograph must include the name of the event at which it was taken
5. Submission image size PHOTOS – 1024 pixels in length on its narrowest side (eg 1536×1024 pixels for a 2:3 ratio)
6. Submission image size FLYERS – 1024 pixels in length on it’s narrowest side (eg 1536×1024 pixels @ 72ppi)
7. Preferred format: photos – jpg, flyers – jpg or pdf
