While some eyebrows were raised at the news that Melbourne chart-toppers The Temper Trap would be headlining the traditionally house-oriented Harbourlife, it seems the band is working on its dance credentials. The guys are set to follow the crossover/remix/stadium tour template set by the likes of Bloc Party and Phoenix with the release of a remixed version of their Conditions album.
The compilation promises “classic, exclusive and hard-to-find remixes of each track on the debut record” and will be released on Monday 1 November – tying in perfectly with Harbourlife. There’s quite an impressive list of producers putting their spin on The Temper Trap’s sweeping indie-pop sound, too.
Faithless recruited the band’s frontman Dougy Mandagi to sing its latest album The Dance, and now Sister Bliss and Rollo have returned the favour by giving Love Lost a big-room overhaul. “I really love what The Temper Trap are doing and they deserve all the success they’re getting now,” Sister Bliss enthused to us back in May. “They’ve got this sensitivity to them, but it’s not glossy or overdone, it’s just raw and real, you know? It’s an incredible debut from them.”
Other remixers on the album include dubstep rabble-rouser Rusko and breaks veteran Adam Freeland, and it’s fair to assume you’ll be hearing a few of these getting a rinsing over summer.
