Each Saturday in November, Wham! at World Bar will hand its dancefloor to a Sydney DJ icon for the whole night. The ‘Goldmine Icon Series’ promises “to take listeners on a musical journey through reminiscence, understanding and enlightenment”. A hefty pitch, to be sure, but they’ve got the selectors to make it work.

Each DJ will have from 10:30pm till close on their alloted night to dig deep and get expansive. First up is production veteran Mark Dynamix on 6 November, whose speciality in the studio is techy gear for late-night dancefloors. Up next is dedicated house head Illya, a man who has comfortably matched the likes of Derrick Carter and Mark Farina over the years with his finesse in the booth.

We Love ambassador and techno/house tastemaker Ben Korbel is in charge on 20 November. As he showed off on Balance Electric 03 back in 2008 (and at many clubs over the years), he’s a master of the steady build, so the Icon format suits him well. Last but certainly not least is Simon Caldwell, subject of the first in ITM’s Honour Roll series and a real hero for the art of playing on vinyl.

Wham!’s Goldmine Icon Series features these DJs all night long on Saturdays in November:
