Forgive this brief diversion from the latest breaking EDM news out there but it’s Friday and we’re feeling the need to make these last few hours before the weekend that much more bearable with another instalment of our not-so-regular Friday Fun series thingamajig.
Much in the same way that we’ve all enjoyed having a few laughs at the expense of our favourite DJs’ expense with gallery after gallery of epic photo fails, we thought we’d shift gears to another visual medium, namely the video.
Yes, we’re using our giggly Friday states to acknowledge some of the most spectacular DJ fails that’ve ever been captured on film. After all, everyone screws up, even the biggest DJs out there, and because of that platform there’s often someone watching in the crowd handily filming all the gold moments for the world to later see.
Let’s start off with a classic blunder that can derail any DJ set; the scratched CD. This video finds U2’s new BFF David Guetta falling victim to the dud disc to a chorus of of boos. It’s a common mood killer but it’s hard to feel sympathy for the Frenchman when you see he’s only bothering with the one deck.
Another set gone awry from technical difficulties can be seen in the video below from a recent Steve Aoki show. This fail’s particularly painful for all the show-boating that Aoki does as his gear quietly shits itself. Ouch. Let’s hope he’s better at Future Music Festival next year.
You might’ve expected this video to belong to our last fail-star, Steve Aoki, but nope, it’s one half of Crookers horrendously botching a stagedive at the Stereosonic festival last year. That’s gotta hurt. Even the security guards are cacking themselves.
While Roman Zerano takes the honour of failing the hardest at a DMC contest, there’s something borderline insane about DJ Nike’s set at the 1997 tournament. While it’s not technically a disaster, it’s a rather laughable mess with the Kenny Powers of the decks Nike doing his best/worst tricks including foot-scratching and face-fading. And also the dude is wearing Adidas. Fail.
In this last video you won’t see any superstar disc jockeys or oceans of fans but just a humble amateur epically trainwrecking his mix before it has even begun. Round of applause.
