When Faithless announced its headline Australian tour for 2004, few could’ve predicted we’d be waiting over six years for another chance to see the dance legends live. In the time between tours, the band has released two further albums – 2006’s To All New Arrivals and this year’s “fully-blown club record” The Dance.

With a host of new songs in the arsenal, the Faithless drought is finally breaking at Good Vibrations Festival this summer. As the excitement mounts, inthemix got on the phone to the group’s leading lady Sister Bliss to hear how they’ll be making up for lost time.

“We really want it to be a total feast for fans,” she enthused. “We’re reworking some stuff and have some new songs in the set. It’s been fantastic fun. You’re getting the full-on Faithless live experience, and we’re delving into all six of our albums – from the anthems that people know and love, to some of the new music which I think is just rocking at the moment. It just feels better than ever. It’s more potent and more exciting.”

The Northern summer saw Faithless take on some immense festival stages, including a triumphant return to Glastonbury. The band’s reputation for ecstatic live shows is as strong as ever, but Sister Bliss claims their onstage alchemy wasn’t always the main game.

“We never expected to be a live band,” she says. “We never expected Maxi Jazz to be charismatic or not. We just loved his voice and his music and his lyrics, but he became this compelling, amazing frontman, till here I am talking to you 15 years later.

“It’s been a really mad and chaotic kind of self-managed, jumbled-together project that somehow struck a chord with people, and I’ve never let go of that.”
