It’s not long now till Detroit comes to Sydney for the D25 tour, led by three true greats of electronic music. The Forum will be the only place to see Theo Parrish, Moodymann and Carl Craig (no last-minute sideshows, we’re told), and it’s sure to be a momentous occasion.
Speaking to inthemix last week down the line from the Motor City, Carl Craig enthused about his touring companions for this leg of the worldwide tour. “Kenny [Dixon Jr., Moodymann] and Theo have been making incredible music for 15 years or so,” he said. “Each of them has their own flavour and style, but it’s like, the best in what they do. That along with what I’ve been doing for the last 20 years gives a nice variety and concept of where music comes from in Detroit.”
While set times are still in the works, promoter Finely Tuned has told inthemix that the running order will see the enigmatic Moodymann up first of the Detroit DJs, followed by Theo Parrish, then Carl Craig to bring it home. Yes, that sounds like the makings of an incredible night of music…
If you’re itching to get in the mood early, local disco/house flag-bearers CO-OP are hosting an exclusive pre-party for D25 ticket holders mere metres from The Forum. The ‘warm-up’ runs from 4pm till 8pm at the Fox & Lion Terrace, with considered sets from the CO-OP DJs, Claire Morgan and Joe Stanley.
