It just wouldn’t be a hip hop tour wthout some late scheduling dramas…
According to a statement posted on the Soundscape website “Due to unforeseen circumstances and commitments that have arisen at the eleventh hour, Mos Def is unable to make it to Australia in time for his first two Australian dates”.
The change affects his scheduled appearance at Soundscape in Hobart, which has been cancelled, and his show at the Enmore in Sydney, which has been moved to from Sunday 9th to Sunday 23rd January.
Mos Def has been replaced at Soundscape on Saturday 8th of January by his Black Star partner Talib Kweli. However punters, who had their hearts set on seeing Mos play, can seek refunds on their Soundscape tickets before 5pm on Friday 31st December via the festival’s website.
Soundscape has also arranged for Mos Def to play a show in Hobart at the conclusion of his tour “at great cost and many long days of hard work”. The date and venue of this gig is yet to be confirmed.
At this stage it appears that the shows in Adelaide, Perth, Brisbane, Melbourne and at the Hot BBQ festival are unaffected, but inthemix will keep you posted about any additional changes to the tour.
Mos Def headline shows:
Tuesday 11th January – HQ, Adelaide
Thursday 13th January – The Tivoli Theatre, Brisbane
Friday 14th January – The Palace Theatre, Melbourne
Saturday 15 January – Metro City, Perth
Saturday 22nd January – Hot BBQ, Point Nepean Quarantine Station
Sunday 23rd January – The Enmore Theatre, Sydney
TBA – Hobart
