Welcome to 2011! Doesn’t it feel good to be at the beginning of a new year with a fresh start ahead of us all? The arrival of 2011 was made all the better by the scores of big events that went down over the holiday period, making a busy schedule for dance fans keen to ring in the new year in style.

But if you couldn’t get along to all the activity – and we really were spoilt for choice – then inthemix has you covered! We sent our snap-happy photographers out to the big parties of the New Year’s stretch to catch all the action, including the big one, Armin Only Mirage, which found the mighty Armin van Buuren thrilling a stadium of punters for nine epic hours.

If trance wasn’t your thing then perhaps you were at Peaches big DJ set on NYE? Joined by Le Tigre stalwart JD Samson, Peaches brought her signature odd-ball antics with fans flying their freak flags in unison.

The next day got even bigger of course thanks to some seriously large parties around town including the beachside-doof at Summer Beats Soundsystem and on the other end of the spectrum, Future’s super-sized Summadayze festival with the likes of David Guetta, Armand Van Helden and N.E.R.D.

And we can’t help but give a special mention to a perhaps over-looked gallery from the days before NYE with US rap legends Public Enemy absolutely annihilating The Corner Hotel while performing their Fear Of A Black Planet LP in full.

Stay tuned for more galleries as they come in, our photographers can party pretty hard too so there’ll be more event coverage soon.
