In news that couldn’t shock a newborn baby, mighty US producer turned goofy chart-scaling rapper Timbaland has cancelled his Australian tour with travelling Supafest brand on the eve of the festival’s kick-off.
In a statement released by Paperchase Touring it’s been reported that the godfather of dubstep has pulled out of the national Supafest tour, though no reason for the plug-pulling was offered.
“It’s with great regret that Paperchase Touring announces that Timbaland has cancelled his appearances in Australia for the upcoming Supafest Tour that starts tomorrow at ANZ Stadium in Sydney,” the statement read. “Paperchase Touring has been delivering the best urban acts in the world to Australia for many years and this cancellation is due to circumstances beyond the promoters control. All other artists on the bill have landed in Australia and are looking forward to delivering an amazing show.”
Timbaland famously pulled out of touring Australia on two separate occasions so this last minute axing doesn’t come as a huge surprise. With Snoop Dogg, Nelly, The Game, Busta Rhymes, Ciara and more urban stars all locked in, the festival still has one of the better rap and hip-hop lineups to hit Australian arenas in recent memory.
Saturday April 9th – Sydney, ANZ Stadium
Sunday April 10th – Perth, Joondalup Arena
Saturday April 16th – Brisbane, RNA Showgrounds
Sunday April 17th – Melbourne, Melbourne Showgrounds
