There’s no questioning the influence of hip hop legend Kurtis Blow, and this May he lands in Australia for a round of headline shows.
This tour celebrates the 30th anniversary of his seminal single The Breaks, which holds a place in history as the first certified gold record rap song. It’s also an evergreen staple in breakbeat sets, with no greater fan than Krafty Kuts.
Of course, The Breaks was just one of Kurtis Blow’s crossover successes, and you can expect jams like If I Ruled The World and Basketball to still get you on the dancefloor. Who knows, you might even get some of his gospel standards, if the Kurtis Blow Presents: Hip Hop Ministry era is more your thing. Party time, people.
Kurtis Blow tour dates:
Thursday 26 May – Tone, Sydney
Friday 27 May – The Bakery, Perth
Saturday 28 May – The Espy, Melbourne
Sunday 29 May – Step Inn, Brisbane
