The local dance music community has reacted swiftly to the distressing news that beloved Canberran club figure Alex Beddows – better known as Escha – has gone missing while overseas.

As reported by The Canberra Times, Beddows had been holidaying in the United States with family, attending the New Orleans Jazz Festival last week when he went missing.

“That festival finished at 7PM, and Beddows is believed to have left the festival grounds with two men and a woman,” the report stated. “About 9PM, Beddows was captured on CCTV cameras at a ferry station with the same people. He took a short ferry trip across the Mississippi River to Algier’s Point. There he was sighted in two local bars, the last of which was Louie’s Corner Bar, where he was seen up until midnight. Beddows then disappeared, and has not been seen or heard from for seven days.”

Any body with contacts in New Orleans is urged to circulate information and images of Beddows to assist in the search for the missing Canberra DJ. Meanwhile back home the Canberra scene has organized a fundraiser to help Beddows’ family travel to New Orleans to help look for him, with locals like Karton, Jemist and Rees1 taking part in Music For Alex at Transit Bar on Sunday May 22nd. Tickets are $10 and all proceeds will go to the Beddows family to aid in the search.
