The Australian dance community now has another dance achievement to celebrate with local hero MaRLo clocking up a coveted Beatport #1 this week.

The now Melbs based Dutchman cemented his rising star earlier in the week when his new single The Island featuring Jano hit number one on Beatport’s Trance charts, a major milestone in anyone’s books.

Though he’s now been shunted down to #2 by Mat Zo, we reckon it won’t be MaRLo’s last taste of the top spot.

In other news, soon to be visiting trance gun Sied van Riel told inthemix in his ITM-FM exclusive mix this week that he’s got a fresh collaboration in the works with MaRLo.

“I know MaRLo is doing really well these days,” van Riel said in his take on the local production crop. “The guy has been on a roll production wise lately. He remixed MME for me which got hammered by all your usual big guns and his latest vocal effort hit number one on Beatport. We already had a collaboration done last year, but both decided it wasn’t there yet so we cancelled the release and are aiming to make a new one when I’m in Australia next week.”
