To help raise money for the families of fallen soldiers, Telstra has this week launched the new Legacy Songs Badge. Featuring five songs from a mixed bag of Australian artists including dance trio Art Vs Science and hip hop collective The Herd, the badge is a modern take on the traditional pin sold to raise funds for the Legacy welfare programs. Also featured on the badge are Boy & Bear, Jimmy Barnes and Powderfinger.

The limited edition ‘button’ badge will be available from Sunday 28 August until Saturday 10th September for $15 from selected Telstra stores, including George Street (Sydney) Bourke Street (Melbourne), Hay Street (Perth) and Queen Street (Brisbane).

And for those of you who don’t like to leave the safety of your computer for too long, a virtual badge can be downloaded for just $10 via BigPond Music and from the Legacy Facebook app.

Each artist has donated their chosen song to the legacy appeal. Of his band’s involvement in the campaign, Tim Levinson, otherwise known as Urthboy, says: “The Herd respects and supports Legacy, so we’re pleased to be able to contribute in even a small way to the great work they do. I urge all Australians to join me in buying a Legacy Songs Badge and enjoying the music this Legacy Week.”

Make sure you download music for a good cause this week. Head to the Legacy Songs Facebook here for more information and to purchase the tracks.
