LOOKING FOR THE FULL FUTURE MUSIC FESTIVAL 2012 LINE-UP? CHECK IT OUT HERE.

Now that spring has arrived and the festival season is racing ever closer, it appears it’s already time to start talking about Future Music Festival. It was still the depths of winter when Luke Jenner from New York troupe The Rapture let slip to triple j that they’ll “hopefully be back for Future”, preparing fans well in advance for the cowbell binge to come.

Well, a press release from Future Entertainment this morning confirms that The Rapture is indeed the first name on what’s sure to a mega 2012 Future Music Festival line-up. The timing’s certainly spot-on, given the band has just released a summer-ready album In The Grace Of Your Love. With French mastermind Philippe Zdar adding some production flourishes, it finds The Rapture in stellar form.

Perhaps you haven't seen one of their sets at a recent festival...the crowd is rammed! There's a heap of love for them here and the new album is really nice.

lol I remember they opened for Daft Punk's US tour back in 07, they were so awful as the opening act (and I am a fan of them for Christ's sake)

Daverh: given you work for inthemix, and inthemix are paid by Future to promote their festival, I don't think its appropriate posting/commenting in forums etc like you're just a regular punter going to the festival.

Dont mean to be harsh, but forums are already crowded enough with promoters posts

One of the stranger comments I've read on ITM...

I just like the band and thought it was strange that someone was asking how they kept getting booked in Australia when we're one of their most consistent markets.

Now when do I get Future's money?

I can confirm that, a) Dave is a Rapture fan. And b) the editorial team ain't on any promoters' pay-roll, otherwise Dave and I would be living it up right now, but instead we're eating lunch at our desks.

I like these guys but they play here every year don't they? I guess it reflects the lack of imagination of festival goers, or that the festival will be full of 18 yo's who havent seen them yet.

I just thought for the effort in bringing them out every year they would need to have sufficient commercial pull.

Their music isn't my cup of tea but if they pull the punters then im now aware.

I was interviewing them the other week and they talked openly about how much they love it here and how the crowd's have always been very responsive to them. In particular they said that the tune 'No Sex For Ben' is probably their biggest "hit" in Australia while nobody reacts when they play it in other countries.

Ha ha, sorry Daverh, didn't mean to say you couldnt post or have an opinion, by all means keep doing that. And keep the news coming mate. And I'm sure you are a Rapture fan (although I agree with other posts, they were a bit dodgy live when I saw them)

In regards to this news article (being basically a promotion for one of your organisations customers), I guess my point was that typically if you work at any organisation , then normally you have a duty to only say positive things (in public) about that customer and their product.

For example if you were to start post negative things about this festival, how would this be received by your bosses? I know you're not personally on the payroll from Future, but usually company policy comes into play when it comes to what employees can say regarding customers. Perhaps you can tell me it doesnt work this way at inthemix?

A news article talking about festival announcements probably isn't a place to be critical of artists, festivals, promoters and such and you usually won't see that from Jack or I. As outlined in ITM's community guidelines the views and opinions expressed by users of inthemix are not indicative of inthemix and the greater Sound Alliance company so were I to have a negative take on something and I freely expressed that in the forums then it would be my personal opinion. Though I may be baited in to saying otherwise, I have nothing negative to say about Future.

What's more, The Rapture are not 'owned' by FMF and my original comments don't just speak to their upcoming appearance at the festival but also to their previous visits which I guess then ticks my suck-up boxes for Fuzzy and V Festival.
