Though EMI’s inaugural She Can DJ competition this week named Sydney regular Minx as the grand champion, fellow entrant Alison Wonderland isn’t walking away empty-handed, scoring herself a recording contract with the local industry giant on the back of her performance during the comp.
As stated in a release sent to ITM from the record label, though Alison Wonderland isn’t getting the full perks that She Can DJ’s winner, Minx, will receive for taking out the crown, she’s getting a leg-up into the next phase of her career as a producer and performer on EMI’s growing dance roster.
“Alison Wonderland’s skills and passion for music was so impressive throughout the entire She Can DJ program,” EMI A&R guru Scott Horscroft said in the statement. “Watching her creativity shine in the recording studio and drawing on her deep knowledge of music production and performance she defined herself as an undeniable talent and unique artist. Her enthusiasm for music and the authenticity of what she creates made the final decision on picking one winner impossible, we just had to work with both Alison Wonderland and the exceptionally talented official winner Minx. We look forward to working with both artists and developing great music and successful careers.”
