The beloved Golden Plains festival is back again for 2012, bringing with it a distinguished line-up that perfectly matches the atmosphere of the Meredith Supernatural Amphitheatre. While the famed one-stage long weekender primarily showcases indie heroes (and that’s certainly true of this one), you also find the likes of disco originals CHIC and UK rhymesmith Roots Manuva, whose new album 4everevolution is gathering good heat. There’s also a strong local contingent including Seekae, Canyons and Dexter to keep the nights buzzing.

“Golden Plains is a lot more than just about the music,” our reviewer wrote of 2011’s edition. “In terms of organisation, this is a festival second to none – no car queues, no ban on BYO booze and a toilet paper guarantee every time you enter a stall. Plus, ‘no dickheads’, or so the unwritten policy on those attending Meredith festivals is said to go.”
