After his star-making turn at Stereosonic 2010, Dutch powerhouse Afrojack will be back to do it all again in a few weeks. As we heard in our Focus On Stereosonic feature, the DJ is on the mainstage line-up this year alongside fellow A-listers like Kaskade, Armin van Buuren, Benny Benassi and Avicii. Expect him to exhibit some serious pulling power around the country…
When inthemix got the 24-year-old on the phone recently, he seemed pretty deflated after a long Northern summer – but talk of his fast-approaching Australian tour noticeably perked him up.
“Stereosonic was the biggest fun I’ve ever had in Australia,” he recalled. “I think it’s going to be great this year and I’m pretty sure I want to play there next year again. When you’ve got a lot of DJs together, you just go out and have fun. When I’m alone I have to focus on making music, doing work, replying to fucking emails and bullshit.”
He also revealed to inthemix that he’s been working on a refreshed DJ set stacked with new weapons. “I’m kicking off my new show musically,” he said. “In 2012 I want to make the show even bigger production-wise, but I’m already working on music I haven’t played yet. When I’m in Australia I want to present my new music – I call them my ‘Concert Edits’; the ones you can only hear in my sets.”
Stay tuned for the full Afrojack interview later this week. In the meantime, check out the videos below: the first from the Dutchman’s recent New York adventure at Electric Zoo Festival, and the second from Stereosonic 2010.
