How’s this for a killer start to 2012? On Friday 6 January, The Metro Theatre will host a dream triple-bill for bass lovers, brought to you by the good people at Niche Productions. Leading the way is L.A. beat wizard Flying Lotus, who has kept up a prodigious work-rate since his live band tour here last summer.

From remixing Radiohead to apparently overseeing an album from Erykah Badu (the mind boggles), FlyLo just keeps creating. He’s sure to arrive here with a whole new batch of material to test out on us.

We’ve been banking on a return tour from Martyn ever since he wowed us in 2010, and this looks like the perfect occasion to welcome him back. Martyn released his new album Ghost People on Brainfeeder last month, and it’s another stellar piece of work. Rounding out the bill is Africa Hitech, the creative union of Mark Pritchard and Steve Spacek. We told you it was big!
