With his headlining turn locked in for Future Music Festival 2012, enduring legend Fatboy Slim is making time for a couple of special shows on the side. The DJ will be bringing his rollicking “party acid house” to some storied concert venues, and inthemix is pleased as punch to be coming along for the ride.
2011 proved to be Norman Cook’s busiest ever year of DJing. He puts the figure at roughly 70 gigs over the 12 months. “I’m happier, healthier and I’m doing a better job,” he tells inthemix when we get him on the phone. “I beat my demons off with a stick.”
“I’ve got a audio-visual show coming,” he tells us of this return to our shores. “I’m more of a VJ these days. We write visuals first, and as I play the CDJs, they trigger the synched visuals.”
Tickets on sale 9.00am Monday 30th January through Ticketek (Sydney) and Ticketmaster (Melbourne).
