While there’s no official word as yet on when we can expect a follow-up to last year’s mega-success Zonoscope, it seems local three-piece Cut Copy have nonetheless been keeping the studio warm.
The latest news from the group is that bassist Ben Browning is set to release a solo EP next month. Titled Lover Motion, the EP will be released on Cut Copy’s label Cutters come March 19. It’s been a long time coming, too – apparently Browning began work on the recording before Zonoscope was released nearly a year ago.
It’s also worth noting that there are a number of other dance names attached to the release. Cut Copy frontman Dan Whitford provides synth on the EP, and Gus Franklin and Dan Whitford of Architecture in Helsinki have production credits. A remix of the EP’s first single I Can’t Stay from Future Music Festival attendee Juan Maclean is available for streaming on Soundcloud.
You can also check out the deliberately-wanky and actually quite amusing I Can’t Stay video below. With output like this, it’s probably safe to say that the boys aren’t too upset about losing out at the Grammy’s to Skrillex.
